Mainly from magazines, computer-related articles in the press, manufacturer's web sites, manuals and you, through the acronym submission form.
Q6:
I haven't found what I'm looking for. And now?
A:
The search engine searches only in the acronym field (not in the definition nor in the description). The search parameter can be too tight; try to loose it specifying less characters; also, the spelling is important, so "CD-ROM" is different from "CD ROM" or "CDROM". The search performed is case-insensitive, so searching for "TCP" is equal to search for "tcp".
If the correct spelling and the loosened parameter don't yield results, try using the tree control to navigate to the section that seems appropriate (one of the C's subsection for "CD-ROM", for example.) If you still haven't found your acronym, it probably doesn't exist in the database; in this case there are some links to other sites you can look at.
Q7:
How can I contribute to this database?
A:
If you know computer-related acronyms (and their meaning) that aren't listed in this application, you can submit them using this submission form. Please note that the acronyms you submit are not immediatly visible, since they are checked against other sources and eventually deleted (see also Q8.)
